Hens Back at City Council

"4 Chesapeake Hens" has had a setback at the Planning Commission. The Commission voted to deny our request for changes in the zoning laws to allow backyard laying hens in residential areas in Chesapeake, VA.

But we have not given up our quest. We are organizing our response. We are on the City Council's agenda for November 20.

In the meantime, if you wish to help us plan and organize, join our Facebook page. We post frequent updates and opportunities to help. The link is at the top of this post. If you are a Chesapeake resident who cares about this issue, contact City Council. Council has the final decision, so the time for public input is between now and November 20, 2012.

Update: On November 20, Chesapeake City Council voted 6-3 to allow hens with certain restriction in residential areas.
